I had the miss pleasure of receiving a phone call from a company parading as a windows IT company. They told me they had been monitoring my computer and that I had some malicious files that could cause my computer to die if I didn't follow their directions. I knew that something stank, but I followed along with the conversation just to see how far they would go. They told me to go to my startup menu, that's fine if I was running with a PC but I use a Mac. After speaking to several different people, I found myself talking to the supervisor who after discovering I was using a mac, wanted to end the conversation very quickly.<br />Please be careful of anyone who says they have been monitoring your computer, no one should ever be able to observe your computer for viruses unless you are working for a company that requires an IT desk.
